“We live in an era where the best way to make a dent on the world may no longer be to write a letter to the editor or publish a book. It may be simply to stand up and say something . . . because both the words and the passion with which they are delivered can now spread across the world at warp speed.” ― Chris J. Anderson, TED Talks

Fred Miller once remarked, “The worst speech you’ll ever give, will be far better than the one you never give.” Always remember, speaking comfortably in front of a crowd is a powerful skill in this day and age. It not only helps you express yourself in an authentic manner but also gives you a great opportunity to share your ideas with the world.

Whenever you experience self-doubt, reaffirm to yourself the truth that public speaking is not rocket science, and it’s a skill anyone can learn no matter where they come from. Consider the example of a 12-year-old boy from Kenya who was invited to give a TED Talk to showcase a groundbreaking tool he invented. Initially, he was shy, spoke very little broken English, and couldn’t even describe his invention coherently. However, after just six months of training, he landed in California and gave a heartfelt speech, leaving the audience captivated and even cheering for him toward the end.
