We all have a lens through which we see other people and this world. This lens is built by our beliefs, our culture, and the people around us. All of us humans are the same but this filter varies.
Imagine a set of twin babies were born in the US. One stays in the US, and another is brought to Japan and raised there. Although they are inherently identical, but after around 20 years, you will see that their beliefs and thought patterns are completely different. Superficially they make look identical, but they are poles apart in reality.
These lenses vary from person to person. One may see this world as a lonely, dangerous and difficult place to live in, and in contrast, another person would be grateful that they’re alive, embrace each aspect of life, and see the world as a haven of love, joy, and abundance.
It’s our responsibility to identify what kind of filter we have, and is it helping us or not? If we have a filter that is detrimental to our well-being and we experience negative emotions on a frequent basis, then that’s a sign that we have to change this filter and upgrade it to a new, better one.
The best way to do that is to start feeding your mind with positive information and surrounding yourself with people that are optimistic and enrich your life. Start reading books, watching videos, and listening to podcasts/audiobooks that add value and improve your life, and avoid social media and news channels that make us feel threatened and experience negative emotions.
Your Inner Being knows what is good for you, and you should trust your gut. Our human brains are magical and fertile grounds. As you sow, so shall you reap. In absence of positive information, weeds of negativity will grow and they will take you in a downward spiral. It is your responsibility to protect your mind.
As a high-achiever and a humanitarian, make it a discipline to feed your mind with positive information and correct knowledge on a daily basis, and not the unreal truths that the society wants us to believe in. We should challenge all the beliefs that have been inculcated in us at a younger age, and only stick to the ones that strongly align with us.
As your personal lens gets changed, you will realize that things will start working for you and not against you. And you will inevitably become a better version of yourself and create the life that you desire and deserve.
