We can choose to live in two ways: by default or by design.
We can choose to go with the herd and react to life as it comes by. We can go with the flow of the society and do what it preaches us to do. We can run the same race as others are running, and work hard to keep up with the Joneses. We can live an average shallow existence and become a cog in the wheel of the giants that facilitate our work and play.
Or we can live by design and construct a life that we want to live. We can choose to do the work that we’re passionate about and adds meaning to our lives. We can be selective about our associations and only bring friendships and relationships that resonate with us and influence us to become better versions of ourselves. We can learn to take care of our minds and our bodies, and cultivate better habits that enhance the quality of our life. As George Bernard Shaw pointed out, “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
We can be the architect of our own lives and design a life that reflects our truth, a life that aligns with our values and our Inner Being, a life that elevates not only us but others as well. We can choose to weave a tapestry of brilliance, excellence and love with the moments that we have been bestowed with.
Design the time that you spend on this planet. You are not here for long, so why not make it a hell of an experience instead of anchoring yourself and never leaving the shore?
