Intention is good, action is better
“The smallest of actions is always better than the noblest of intentions.”
— Robin Sharma
So many exceptional thinkers and innovators exist on the planet, but only a handful of them truly fulfill their potential and achieve greatness. The simple reason is that they are remarkable on the ideation side of the equation, but mediocre on the execution side. And their professional life never takes off because of this one limitation.
Simply consuming information day in and day out is not the same as making progress. Learning and brainstorming are just the starting point; you must also be willing to get the important work done.
Knowledge is potential power, and we can only tap into it by taking action. As Darren Hardy points out, “Learning without execution is useless… Motivation without action leads to self-delusion.”
Having head knowledge is not good enough. The marketplace and life reward action, not ideas. To be a world-class achiever, you must turn your learned insights into tangible habits, creations, or leadership actions.
So if you want to take your impact and income to the next level, you must get both sides of the equation right. You must be a brilliant strategist as well as a relentless performer.
Moving forward, make execution your primary focus. Yes, unleash your genius and come up with superb ideas, but also commit to making them a concrete reality.
Balance being an enthusiastic learner with being a ruthless warrior. That’s the only way to win in work and in life. As Seneca instructs, you have to ensure that the “words become works.”
Bonus Tip: Adopt “The 1-Idea Rule.” Commit to applying just one actionable insight from every chapter or book you read before moving on to the next one. I’m sure this will be a game-changer for you.
