We, humans, are imperfect beings. No one is born is with the knowledge and wisdom of how to live a meaningful and extraordinary life, and become a shining example of success and greatness. Nor do we get a manual that tells us what and how to do this life thing.
So, what’s our best bet? Observe people, observe life, observe how things operate in the world, and then go do them. In other words, living a life that reflects our core values and becoming an embodiment of success is all about trial and error. Yes, it’s that simple.
But most of us are afraid — of failing, of being judged by others, and of choosing the dark and uncertain path — and so we stick to our chosen lane and our comfort zone, even if it doesn’t suit us well and gel with what we truly want out of the limited moments that we’ve got on this spinning orb.
To human is to err. But to human is to also learn and adapt. One of the most important skills that we must develop is course correction. This is what separates us from other beings on this planet. As Jim Rohn said, “Humans are unique. We are the only species who can completely change the course of our lives. Ants can’t do it, alligators can’t and lions can’t. If a goose wanted to fly west instead of south for the winter, it couldn’t. All other animals besides humans are directed entirely by impulse written into their genetic code. As a human, if you don’t like the story of your life thus far, you can rip up the script and write a completely new one.”
It’s important that we internalize when a mistake is a mistake, learn from our errors and failures, change course and start moving forward as a better and wiser person.
Most of us screw things up and instead of course-correcting, we keep going in the same path leading to further failures. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. It’s sad that we prefer living ‘insane’ lives, instead of mustering the courage and resolve to change our direction.
To live a meaningful, aligned and fulfilling life, it’s crucial that we hone the ability of course correction. It’s all about assessing what direction serves us best and making the necessary adjustments to move forward that way.
Your future is blank and spotless, and you can choose your own path that makes the most sense to you and helps you get in touch with the happiness and tranquility within.
