the wise yogi

Once, there was a wise yogi whose teachings got immensely popular and people all around the world started following him. He started conducting gatherings in his hometown where people would come and ask him questions regarding their individual problems, seeking solutions that would help them in their lives.

For many years, people kept coming to visit the yogi, however, they complained about the same problems in every gathering.

One day, in the midst of a discussion, the yogi told his audience a joke. Soon, everyone roared in laughter. After a few moments, he told the same joke, and only a handful of the people laughed. And then, the yogi again told the same joke for the third time but no one laughed; everyone looked perplexed, not sure what was going on.

Observing the confusion on the faces of the people around him, the wise yogi smiled and said, “You must be thinking that this man is losing it, right?” He continued, “You see, you can’t laugh at the same joke over and over again, so why are you constantly crying about the same problem?”

Frustration and worry never help us solve our problems, in fact, they keep us away from getting a grip over the situation and finding effective solutions. When we complain, not only it wastes our time and our energy, but it also has a negative impact on our lives. That’s why it’s best to let go of our habit of constant complaining and direct our focus on the solution, not the problem at hand.
