to love is human

If we want to live great lives enriched with freedom and happiness, then we need to leave the hate and bitterness from our past. If we fail to do so, we’ll always be imprisoned by it.

Our true nature is to love, not to hate. And the more we hate, the more we lose our precious internal resources and our peace of mind, and the more we suffer. When we feel wounded, we feel tempted to hurt other people as well. To put it simply, hurt people hurt people. We find excuses to get angry and harbor resentment and hate towards other people. This leads to more suffering, for ourselves and others. The only way to break out of this vicious cycle is to learn to love again. Only then we’ll able get in touch with our human side and be able to live a free and joyous life.

As Nelson Mandela writes in his book Long Walk to Freedom, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
