your personal development dictates your income

your personal development dictates your income

“You will become as small as your controlling desire; as great as your dominant aspiration.” ― James Allen

“Growth is the great separator between those who succeed and those who do not. When I see a person beginning to separate themselves from the pack, it’s almost always due to personal growth.” ― John C. Maxwell

Let’s say the Gods have blessed you with a magic wand. You could wave it right now and have either a million dollars deposited in the bank or a lasting, million-dollar mindset — which one would you choose?

If you’re truly an exception among the crowd, you’d choose the money mindset, not the money. It’s an easy choice actually, I know I would readily go for the millionaire mindset without hesitating or thinking twice. Why is that? Because it’s more powerful to be worth a million dollars than to have a million dollars.

If you have the shiny one million dollars in the bank, but if you don’t have a million-dollar mindset, it won’t be long before you’re back to your pre-magic wand state again. However, if you only have a millionaire mindset right now and not a single penny on your name, it won’t take long for you to have those million dollars too.

Here’s one key thing that you must ensure you remember every day of your life moving forward: Your income will never long exceed your own level of personal development. In other words, the more you learn, the more you earn, it’s as simple as that.

Sure, your income might take a jump through a “lucky” breakthrough or a series of fortuitous circumstances, however if your own personal development does not quickly rise to match that new level of success, you will quickly come down back to the level where your own development puts a cap on it.

So, renew your commitment to personal growth every single day. Cultivate the habit of reading or listening to inspirational books and audio programs for at least 20 minutes. Get hold of new books and keep building your personal development library. This may be one of the most important and lucrative investments you’ll ever make! The more you read and listen to educational materials, the more money you’ll keep adding to your bottom line. As Roy T. Bennett writes in The Light in the Heart, “There is no more profitable investment than investing in yourself. It is the best investment you can make; you can never go wrong with it. It is the true way to improve yourself to be the best version of you and lets you be able to best serve those around you.”

If you keep improving yourself day in and day out, by virtue of the compound effect, you’ll transform into a completely different person — a much more educated and evolved version of yourself — in just a few years.

Today, design your own plan for your personal development. Start feeding your mind with life-transforming insights and ideas and soon you’ll notice a significant difference in your thoughts and how you look at life.
