“Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.” — Lao Tzu

If someone hurls a negative comment or a rude remark at you, do not react. I know it’s easier said than done, but you must train yourself to get to a point where you can stay calm and composed inside no matter what negative things happen in the external world. It’s a tough road to get there, but not impossible.

You must reaffirm the belief: “I am a powerful and peaceful being. Nothing can rattle me. No one can provoke me.”

When you can remain unperturbed in all circumstances, when you can maintain peace, love, and joy within you despite what’s happening on the outside, that’s when you achieve the greatest kind of mastery — mastery over yourself.
